SERMON RECAP:

Solomon's slide into idolatry brings judgment upon the nation of Israel.  After Solomon's death, the country splits in two.  The role of the prophets becomes more prominent as they call Israel and Judah back to covenant faithfulness.  Eventually, both kingdoms are carried off into exile.  The prophets continue to speak to the nation even as they are under the rule of foreigners in a foreign land.  They speak messages of hope for the future... a deliverer, a suffering servant, a new covenant, an eternal kingdom...all of these promises give Israel hope for another exodus...
